Special Exhibit: Views of Bermuda circa 1890
Despite its popularity as a tourist destination, early photographs of the small island group of Bermuda are uncommon.
This exhibit presents the contents of an album of Bermuda views identified as belonging to "Mrs. Welton Stanford, Locust Grove" and produced circa 1890. The forty-one albumen prints contained in the album are wide-ranging in their subject matter and present an overview of the islands and their sights during the period. From the titles given in the negative the images appear to be the work of a single Bermuda studio.
