Two vintage albumen prints, France, 1860s-70s, archivally mounted on acid-free card. Dimensions of each approx. 3.5 x 4 inches (9x10 cm).
Perhaps proof prints for carte-de-visite, this images retains procedural notations and other interesting tidbits which have not yet been swept under the carpet by trimming, giving us a better view of the photographic studio process. The anonymous artist was clearly of the first caliber and conveys a strong sense of canine personality.
