Half plate daguerreotype of a gent and his, perhaps, pregnant wife, anonymous American ca. 1855. Housed in half case, light applied tinting in blush.   ( Inventory# ia512 )

A robust, healthy plate of a city-dwelling couple. The woman rests a hand above her stomach and may very well be pregnant. There are some teensy nick-like abrasions in the area immediately to left of woman, overall the plate is attractive, and in excellent condition.
