Heavily colored sixth plate daguerreotype of mother holding child in cheek-to-cheek pose, by Williamson, Brooklyn. Housed in full case with split spine, mat stamped "Williamson / Brooklyn NY".
The brothers Edward M. and C. H. Williamson operated a superb studio and their work is highly sought after. Two of the studio's specialties are here combined - hand-coloring and child portraits. The sitters skin is covered with a golden flesh tone. Gilt has also been applied to jewelry highlights. Some mat abrasions at edge, otherwise excellent.
