Albumen print of Moung-Phoset and Mah-Phoon, the famous "Hairy Family of Burnah" popularized by P. T. Barnum. Mounted with gilt border on period album page. Print size 9.25 x 7.25 inches (24x19 cm).   ( Inventory# ib24 )

This unusual large format print of Moung-Phoset and his mother comes from a period travel album and appears to have been taken in Burma before P. T. Barnum "acquired" the pair in 1887, at the time when they served as royal mascots to the Burmese King. On reverse of the album page are found two nondescript Italian albumen prints.
