CDV-format albumen print ca. 1870. With reverse studio imprint for "...Thomas Houseworth & Co. 317 & 319 Montgomery St., San Francisco" and period identification in pen "No. 350. Fir[e]mans Fund Insurance building San Francisco."   ( Inventory# ib304 )

A good, dark print giving note only a stately view of the insurance building but an animated "action shot" of passersby on the street amid some piles of construction debris. Under a loupe there is a good deal of signage on the building and its windows including "Saint Louis Mutual Life Insurance Co.", "Fireman's Fund... Marine & Fire", "Hill & Kilgowe" and "Henry Schmeidell".
