Early quarter plate French daguerreotype of a father and son. Housed in original gilt-plaster mount and veneered wood frame, overall dimensions 8 x 6.75 inches (20x17 cm). An old backing paper on reverse of the frame bears a faded inscription of which only the sitters' ages can be easily read (35? and 9 years of age).   ( Inventory# ib341 )

An early plate, somewhat dark but rich in tone. Some imperfections in the plate as well as cover glass; there is a downward brush mark through the boy's neck and top of his white shirt. Scratching to front of frame.
