French quarter plate daguerreotype of an elderly man and girl by Felix Devisuzanne ca. 1845. Housed in period plaster mount with imprint "par F. Devisuzanne." reverse-painted on glass lower right. Overall dimensions of mount 6 x 5 inches (15x13 cm).
A brilliant, rich and three-dimensional plate, which defies my efforts to produce it. The original has luminous whites which show golden and reddish tones at different angles of view.
