CDV-format albumen print ca. 1865 showing a bell-ringer and musical troupe boisterously entering a city while numerous bystanders stand by and gawk. With reverse imprint for "Cadwallader Bros. Art Place 223 Jefferson Avenue, Detroit, Mich."   ( Inventory# ib928 )

An amazing image capturing the arrival of traveling entertainment in a 19th-century town, probably Detroit. Advertising blankets slung over the festooned horses proclaim "BELL RINGERS TO NIGHT". Behind them rides an eagle-and-shield-emblazoned "OMNIBUS BAND WAGON" holding at least nine blaring brass instruments as well as a drum. Another, very large, drum appears to follow on the street behind.

Some scattered rubs on image, bend in upper left corner.
