CDV-format albumen print of a peddler weighing root vegetables in a pair of scales, by Hippolyte Delié, Cairo, circa 1865. Card imprinted front "H. Delié & Cie. Phot." and on reverse "Photographie Universelle / H. Delié & Cie. / Caire (Egypte) / Succursale de la maison Pierson / Photographe de l'Emperor / Boulevart des Capucines, 3. / Paris."   ( Inventory# ic124.08 )

Whatever sort of tuber this vendor is weighing out in his scales seems to come in very strange and irregular shapes. A flat weight appears to be in the opposing scale to balance out the roots.
