Extremely rare CDV-format albumen print of Texas horned lizard by McArthur Cullen Ragsdale, Texas, circa 1870s. With photographer's imprint on reverse and inscriptions front ("A Native Texan") and reverse ("A Native Texan Horned Frog").   ( Inventory# id427 )

The beloved Texas horned toad (actually a lizard) is today a declining and protected species, due to a decrease in numbers of its favorite food, the harvester ant.
