Large albumen print showing a studio interior with photographs displayed, by Alexander Edouart, San Francisco, California circa 1885. On period studio mount about 9 x 11 inches (23x28 cm), imprinted at right "Edouart / 6 Turk Street, Junction Mason & Market / Take the Elevator." Edouart is listed as operating at this address from 1883 to 1888. Print size 6.75 x 8.5 inches (17x22 cm).   ( Inventory# id696 )

This impressive view of the interior or waiting rooms of Edouart's studio shows the clever manner in which it integrated the sale of photographs into a home parlor-like setting. On some of the images displayed Edouart's logo can be made out.

Light speckling overall, some scuffs and scratches on left side, a few brown stains in lower left.
