Born too late in history to sit for Botticelli, this dreamy-eyed and evidently thoughtful 19th century young person has enshrined her likeness in an albumen print with a bright bouquet of folk-art decoration. In this very American creation, Miss Hale draws inspiration from the flowers and grains of her native region, including what appear to be blue corn flowers, poppies, and stalks of wheat.
