Print Type: CDV (Item 33 of 39)

CDV-format albumen print of a neatly attired and coifed man with a badly disfigured face, circa 1875, by Lafargue, Bordeaux, France.   Price: $175.   ( Inventory# id694 )

The heavy wounds shown, which have dislocated parts of the sitter's face, may well be war-related.

At least in this image, the sitter seems preternaturally uncowed by injuries that would have broken many a man's spirit.
