Egyptian Graffiti

Cyanotype, probably unique, of Egyptian rock inscriptions, by J. Couyat from the expedition to Ouâdi Hammâmât, Egypt of J. Couyat & P. Montet, 1911. Number 75 visible in the image. Print size 4.5 x 7 inches (12x18 cm).   Price: $1,100.   ( Inventory# gd88b )

Despite the other areas in Egypt photographed at much earlier dates, the cyanotypes taken by J. Couyat on his expedition to the remote Pharaonic quarry at Ouâdi Hammâmât in 1911 are probably the first photographic images ever produced of their subjects.
