Unmounted albumen print of two workmen loading a wooden cart with hay, genre study taken or published by A. Foncelle, 1880s. With imprint in ink on reverse "Photographies Artistique / A. Foncelle / 3. Quai Malaquais [Paris]." Foncelle is known to have sold images taken by the French rural photographer Constant Alexandre Famin, so this image may well be Famin's work, which it greatly resembles in style.
