Sixth plate daguerreotype of two women in ethnic costume and turban-like headdresses, ca. 1850s, with applied hand-coloring in red and green. Housed in a half case.   ( Inventory# ia982 )

These two ethnic-looking women appear to be in Balkan or Middle Eastern costume. Besides the turban-like head cloths and heavy scarves, small ball-like ornaments are attached to their cuffs and clothing. The elder holds her daughter's (?) hand protectively.

Focus somewhat soft, otherwise in excellent condition.
