English quarter plate daguerreotype of a young lady, with applied hand-coloring, in a case with imprint for the "PHOTOGRAPHIC PORTRAIT GALLERY - EXCHANGE ARCADE MANCHESTER".   ( Inventory# ib488 )

Flesh tones, red, white and gilt are delicately applied to this touching image. Her hair appears to be tinted with a brown tone. A neutral tone appears to have been applied to the background which mutes its reflectiveness.

Housed in a black (or dark blue) leather pushbutton case in good condition. The impressed design on case front includes a royal crown as well as the studio imprint.
