Washing his Hands

CDV-sized tintype of a gent washing his hands, with numerous washing implements scattered around.
Unusual and intriguing "occupational" image which does not seem to correspond exactly to any normal, remunerative occupation, and leaves us wondering. The gent has rolled up his sleeves and washes his hands over a wash bowl, below him on the table hang wash towels and on the floor is a wooden water bucket, pitcher, and soap dish. His hat and coat (which seems to have a prominent handkerchief hanging out of it) has been hastily discarded and hung nearby on the photographer's posing stand.
