Slightly under quarter plate sized Japanese ambrotype of three persons in lively pose, ca. 1880s. Housed in a full period kiriwood case with inscription in Japanese script inside the front cover. Overall dimensions including the case 4.25 x 3.25 inches (11x8 cm).   ( Inventory# ib704 )

An unusually lively and spontaneous Japanese ambrotype, apparently taken outdoors.

Wood back of case has a split down center, water stain on front of lid. The image has been backed with black paper.
