The Battle of New Orleans actually came in January 1815, after peace had been signed between the British and Americans in the War of 1812 but before news had reached the battlefront. Following upon a string of losses, this important American victory restored the confidence of the new nation and later helped propel the American commander, Andrew Jackson, into the presidency.

The plate has some noticeable calcium spotting and discoloration.
