A fantastic group of two roughly CDV-sized albumen prints depicting the interior of the W. Sutton Photo Gallery Hornell NY circa 1875. Both prints with rough backs (as if from a split album page), one inscribed on reverse in pencil "Photo. Gallery of W. Sutton / Hornell. N. Y. 1875"
The first image is in standard CDV size, measuring about 2.25 x 3.5 inches (6x9 cm). It depicts the reception area of Hornell's studio complete with display case, some sort of stereo viewing device, and signs warning repeatedly that Photographs must be Paid For In Advance. (This appears to have been a sore point with Sutton.)
The second print is somewhat taller that would fit on a CDV, it measures about 2.5 x 3.5 inches. It depicts the interior "operating room" of Sutton's studio complete with a panoply of cameras, lighting devices and posing equipment. I count at least seven camera, one of them for stereo images, lenses, four head stands, and other equipment.
Images are in good condition, with some fading, wear and stains.
