Unmounted albumen print of two horses and cows in a country pasture, animal study taken or published by A. Foncelle, 1880s. With imprint in ink on reverse "Photographies Artistique / A. Foncelle / 3. Quai Malaquais [Paris]." Foncelle is known to have sold images taken by the French rural photographer Constant Alexandre Famin, so this image may well be Famin's work, which it greatly resembles in style. Against a white background, the A. Foncelle backstamp is partially visible from front of image through the thin albumen image. However if displayed with dark backing behind print it does not show through.
