General Douglas MacArthur's reinvasion of the Philippine Islands had began a few weeks before, on September 20, 1944, and this photograph depicts a bombing run that was in the thick of MacArthur's battle to drive back the Japanese forces occupying the islands. Successful landings of US troops at Ormac were to follow on December 7th.

Image is crisp and excellent condition. Corners slightly rounded.
