On the reverse of mount a photographer's inscription in ink reads "Eduarde Vicola Photog. / in Freiburg..." The informal clothing of the father and the humble household objects shown (gourd and potted plant on table) may well indicate that it was taken in the sitters home. The cloth above sitters to right has been colored with red, the tablecloth in blue, plant in heavy green, and the sitters cheeks in pink.

The photographer's hand inscription on reverse reads "Eduarde Vicola Photog. / in Freiburg..." and appears to end with a street address that I cannot make out, ending in "34".
