Multiple Exposure and Mirror Images

Double exposures, mirror images, sequential images... all are ways for the photographer to present the object in multiple aspects, sometimes using humor and illusion.

In these images the photographer may create visual clones of himself or others through separate exposures, putting the resulting doppelgänger into humorous or oppositional settings, as if two selves were meeting each other.

Others play with the power of the mirror and its illusion to reveal hidden aspects, often flavored with that atmosphere of intimacy which the mirror carries with it. Or two objects may be posed in a way that gives them the close relationship of mirrored images.

Multiple exposures of the same object over time can also be extended indefinitely, as in scientific studies of motion, which prefigure the sequences of still images that create the illusions of cinema.
