Fantastic double-exposure cabinet-card format photograph showing a boy before-and-after his Fourth of July injuries, circa 1890 by Boone, Paxton, Illinois. Imprinted on front "B. S. Boone, Paxton, Ill." and inscribed at top above image in pencil "July 4 / July 5." Price: $275. ( Inventory# id391 )
The firecracker held by boy in left, "July 4" image is light and appears to have been retouched-in by photographer. In the right, "July 5" image he sports a crutch, bandaged foot, bandaged hand, and sticking plaster applied to various parts of his body. But he seems happy, for all that. Hail to the glorious Fourth!
The cardstock seems somewhat brittle and has chipping along right edge.
