Times Square Nov. 3, 1953
On November 3rd, 1953 Robert Wagner was elected NYC Mayor with 1,021,488 votes to 661,410 for Harold Riegelman, and 468,392 for City Council President Rudolph Halley. Under magnification the large black sign in back of image reads "Election Returns / Riegelman, Wager, Halley" but does not yet list a vote count.
Also included is a second snapshot of Times Square on the same day. While the second image contains a lively view of Times Square street life it also includes the time-honored image of a visiting tourist in statue-like "I was there" pose.
