Three Portraits in Charcoal

English sixth, ninth, and sixteenth plate daguerreotypes after drawings ca. 1854, in full leather cases.
The outstanding tonal control and detail of these daguerreotypes indicates a superior maker. They came from a family group and are, like other images in this group, very likely the work of William Edward Kilburn. The artist's signature (which I cannot interpret) and date is clearly shown on the drawings, which are themselves of superior quality and seem to be done in charcoal with white highlighting. Images have original seals, somewhat loose, and dirt on underglass, plates seem in near-pristine condition. The sixth plate of gent has loose front glass which I have opened to wipe debris from underside.
