Quarter plate daguerreotype of a gentleman ca. 1850s. Housed in full case with split spine and some missing leather.
A high-quality image which captures the moving glint in sitter's eyes and the agitation of his face. Light applied tinting. Hairstyle reminiscent of Kossuth and his companions as captured by Southworth and Hawes. The close-up posing positions the sitter as if he were too large for mat opening.
