French quarter plate daguerreotype of a young cadet ca. 1850s. In original black wood frame, overall dimensions 6 x 5 inches (15x13 cm).
This serious young child is appropriately clothed in an elaborate cadet's uniform, including military-style cap thrown in from of the rambunctious vase of flowers at left. His belt buckle sports an eagle design and writing which is almost but not quite legible. Crisp attractive image.
