Quarter plate daguerreotype of two sisters by POWELSON- NEWARK, NJ, with extensive applied hand-coloring in flesh tones, gilt, blush, and yellow. Housed in full case with separated spine. The daguerreotypist is probably the highly migratory daguerreotypist Benjamin F. Powelson, listed at various locations in New York, Canada, and Rhode Island, in addition to Newark N.J. where he was located for the brief period from 1858 to 1860. (Craig's Daguerreian Registry.)
