Woman with Potted Flowers
SOLD February 2003 |
European sixth plate daguerreotype with applied hand-tinting, 1850s, showing woman seated by a potted plant with small red flowers. Housed in original passe-partout mount designed for wall hanging.
In addition to the flesh tones rendered with a touch of pinking on her lips, color has been applied to the tabletop, pot, plant, flowers, and back of her chair. The typically French passe-partout style mount was intended for wall hanging and bears a hook loop at top.
