CDV-format albumen print of dog holding letter in mouth, ca. 1860s, with applied hand-coloring in red and brown.   ( Inventory# ia588 )

A cute carte-de-visite in superb condition. Tones are rich and unfaded. There is a light circular impression in the upper left, as if the card had been pressed against a coin or button. Bright red has been applied to the seal on letter and then a brown wash to the dirt underneath the dog, apparently some sort of spaniel.
