Oval painting on tin after a daguerreotype of Webster by John Adams Whipple. 1850s-60s. Housed in an antique oval gilt frame with dimensions 19 x 15.5 inches (48x39 cm). Print size 13.75 x 11 inches (35x28 cm).
The Whipple daguerreotype which is the ultimate source for this image is reproduced in Pfister, "Facing the Light" (1978), p. 211.
The painting does not appear to have been restored in any way and bears a varnish coating which has darkened and crackled with time. Frame has cracks and some areas of loss.
