Anna's Tresses and Hat

Quarter plate ambrotype of a woman with long cascading tresses wearing a flamboyant hat. Housed in full case with divided spine and identified in the case as "Anna Millianz / Newark March 1868". With applied hand-coloring in pink and electric blue.
Anna's hat contains an almost Masonic welter of odd symbols. From the left seems to protrude something like ostrich feathers (tinted blue) while a wide ribbon dangles down on the right. She is wrapped either in a shawl or possibly, a blanket.
