A Bouquet in Her Hair

Sixth plate daguerreotype of woman with very complex and flower-bestrewn hairdo. Light applied color in pink. Housed in a mother-of-pearl case with separated front lid.
This hairstyle is quite something, perhaps intended for a special event, it includes not only many small flowers placed into her hair but some more vigorous long sprouts growing out behind, with the effect of a small bouquet. The small flowers as well as the sitter show light applied pink coloring. There is an abrasion on her left arm. The case is damaged and worn, front lid is detached and heavily warped and "crackled".
