French quarter plate daguerreotype of mother holding child, housed behind curved glass in the original black oval wood frame, with date of "18 Octobre 1851" on the backing paper.   ( Inventory# ib113 )

A nice daguerreotype in excellent condition. The child appears a little dazed.

The original wooden frame has one crack at bottom which does not appear to go all the way through to the reverse. An old repair with thread holds the original metal hanging hoop in place.
