Embroiderer with Yarn
SOLD September 2006 |
Ninth plate ambrotype of a woman holding a ball of yarn and wearing a fancy embroidered blouse, anonymous American ca. 1858. Housed in a half case.
Is the yarn she holds related to the fancy embroidery of her blouse? The elaborate embroidery is done in two different patterns on each side.
The plate's original double-eliptical brass mat is retained in case behind the image.
