Ladies by G. G. Walker
SOLD March 2007 |
Hand-colored sixth plate daguerreotype of two ladies in bonnets by George G. Walker of Providence, Rhode Island, ca. 1855. Housed in a half case, mat stamped "G. G. WALKER".
An attractive plate with great and detail and a excellent range of tones, each detail of the sitter's clothing is shown and whites are well rendered. The visual qualities of the plate effectively engage us with the personality of these two down-home Rhode Islandites. Their bonnets and cheeks are tinted in pink and the table cloth has a dash of blue.
