Long-Curls Lady
SOLD April 2009 |
Sixth plate daguerreotype of a young woman, anonymous American ca. 1840s. Housed in a full case with split spine
This 1840s woman seems to have had some anxieties in life but puts on her finest for the daguerreotypist, including carefully curled hair, a spotless dress, and ribbon around her neck tied in a bow. All details have been finely rendered in superb detail by a very skilled daguerreotypist. Light tinting to cheeks.
Plate in superb condition, minor mat abrasion at edges.
