Enlarged photograph of a woman enhanced with heavy coloring in pastels, signed lower right "G.Liebert, Dir. photogr. du Petit Journal" and on reverse (probably indicating the sitter) "Me. Breton". Print size 15.25 x 10.75 inches (39x27 cm).   ( Inventory# ic245 )

Originally found framed, this image is remarkably well preserved for such a fragile medium. The print bows slightly backward and is currently matted in such a way that the pastel surface is not exposed to abrasion. The applied colors are rich and appear to be unfaded.

From the style of studio furniture and clothing this image would appear to date from the 1870s or 80s, although the pastel-enhanced enlargment may be somewhat later in date.
