Sixth plate daguerreotype of a happy bibliophile posed holding an open book and in front of (painted) bookshelf backdrop, which also appears to involve a painted curtain. Anonymous, probably Great Britain circa 1850. Housed in a full leather case.
This image retains its original yellow-paper seals, which appear to be solid. Slight debris under glass, a few scratches which must be original to manufacture, applied hand-coloring in blush.
