Sixth plate daguerreotype of a daguerreotype of an attractive ringleted woman, ca. 1850. Housed in a full leather brown pushbutton case.   ( Inventory# ic672 )

A striking image showing the entirety of a period sixth plate daguerreotype, removed from its case and attached to a wooden board with four nails in preparation for copying.

There is a small oval ring of mat abrasion and tarnish around center of image from an earlier narrower matting which concealed the "gory details" of the copied plate. Image is in excellent condition with a few abrasions around mat edge and some light residue on plate.

Case has exterior wear. Metal hinges and pushbutton clasp in good working order.
