Vietnamese Lady by Pun-Ky
SOLD October 2010 |
CDV-format albumen print of a Vietnamese woman in ethnic clothing, from the studio of Pun-Ky, circa 1870. Print inscribed on reverse "Femme annamite appelee vulgairement Congaille" [Annamite woman vulgarly called Congaille].
Pun-Ky was a photographer of Chinese origin who worked outside China, probably in Vietnam.
While unsigned, this image displays an ornate table and several studio knick-knacks which appear identical to those in signed Pun-Ky images.
