French sixth plate oval daguerréotype showing an officer in uniform, with sword and Napoleonic hat, circa 1850s. With extensive hand-coloring in gilt, green, red, and other colors. Housed in an attractive green-leather oval clamshell case with green silk pad, overall dimensions of case approx. 3.5 x 3 inches (9x8 cm).   ( Inventory# ic978 )

Case attractive and in good condition, although lid has warped, no longer "snaps" closed.
