Vintage warm-toned card-mounted photograph showing destruction from the tornado at St. Louis May 27, 1896, by Hammer Photo, St. Louis. Imprinted front "The Great Cyclone at St. Louis. / May 27th, 1896 / Hammer Photo, 1534 S. Broadway, St. Louis, Mo." and inscribed in period ink "Mt. Calvary Protestant Episcopal Church / Lafayette and Jefferson Aves". Board rebacked with wear and chipping, overall about 6.5 x 8.5 inches (16x21 cm). Print size 4.5 x 7.5 inches (11x19 cm).
