CDV-format albumen print of a Chinese American immigrant in native Chinese clothing, by Wright's Gallery, San Jose, California, circa 1875. With reverse imprint reading "Wright's Art and Portrait Gallery, No. 284 Santa Clara Street, SAN JOSE, CAL," and a penciled inscription on reverse in Chinese characters, perhaps identifying the sitter.
According to Carl Mautz, Biographies of Western Photographers (1997), Wilbur W. Wright was located at this address from 1871 through the end of the 1870s
