Anonymous sixth plate daguerreotype of man in a rustic miner-style shirt circa 1850, with applied coloring. Housed in a half case   ( Inventory# id361 )

Coloring applied to the shirt appears to have been originally blue, although from some angles it now has a more yellowish look. Attached to the reverse of plate is a label inscribed in blue ball-point pen, identifying the sitter as "Reuben Merchant / Son of Hiram and Jemima (Crabtree) Merchant."

Plate has some scattered tiny copper spots and very faint brushing through the shirt.
