Unsigned quarter plate daguerreotype circa 1855, a white-background, close-up view of gent in the manner of Southworth and Hawes, Boston. With applied hand-coloring. Housed in a full black leather pushbutton case.   ( Inventory# id397 )

Plate crisp and overall in excellent condition, with a few "calcium spots" visible at odd angles of view.

In the case (but not attached to anything) was found a label identifying the sitter as "William Henry Starr".
